C-Dory Sightings

Second hand Halcyon sighting on I-15 near Clark Canyon Res on
Thursday September 3rd, in the morning. The western arm of my fly fishing posse reported this to me.

Glad we hadn't held up the bank - there is no away, eh, with these sharp-eyed C-brats and their buddies? Yep - we were there. Will be writing up our tale of "your" lake soon.

Just happened to be looking out of the office window at just the right second to see a red strip 22 flash by in the noon-time Friday traffic. Took 40 minutes to finish the project, then follow east to the marina. Got there just as the bow line was being slipped, and caught Da Nag heading out for a round of crabbing. Much later in the afternoon, JC Lately and SleepyC went out to do some radio and chart plotter exercises, and we daw the unnamed dark blue stripped 16 with her 4 man crew, coming in with a crab catch.

I fished humpy hollow yesteday and counted 4 c-dorys out there with me. Not one was a boat I knew. One guy was from eastern washington out here for a few weeks of fishing.

Saw a handful of CDs in and around Whittier/PWS on a Sunday day trip. Three 22 cruisers, a 19 angler, and a on old 27 long cabin underway. It was CD-central 8)

The September issue of the Sunset magazine has an article about Saturna Island. In that article is a picture taken of Lyall Harbour. At the left side of the picture is a C-Brat hiding out in a 22 ft C-Dory Cruiser with a life raft tied to the roof.

Currently in Port Orchard. The guest moorage is EMPTY except for four boats. A beautiful American Tug...and THREE C-DORY 25 Cruisers! A blue one, owner Richard Mintz from Vashon and a green 25 w/ no name and we have not spoken to the owners.

I'll post a pic once we get back to the hale'.

Did a day trip out to Blake Island. At the dock was an un-named 22 cruiser. Met bmacpiper with his 19 Angler at the Eagle Harbor boat launch. He was launching we were landing.

I was putting around Mud Bay in my 14 foot Klamath just enjoying the day and to my surprise I saw a 22 foot green C-Dory anchored out. Its name was Plan C. I altered course to take a look but could see no activity aboard. Saw it leave before sunset to points unknown. What a life they have.

Hi to all,

Pat an I were on a motorhome trip to NY State and this week as we were leaving Newark, NY we saw 22 footer on the canal leaving the harbor area headed west. There was no name an the side and it was powered by a single.

Fred, Pat, and Mr. Grey (the cat)

Another second hand sighting. Dixie's brother in law (Mark) saw "Sea Pal" in the Richfield, Ut. Walmart parking lot, on 9/16. Probably heading to the Lake Powell gathering.

On a bit of a road trip, northbound on Whidby Island, saw an unnamed 22 Cruiser, just north of the Keystone ferry landing. Got a uninformed quick peek at the new R-Matey and I beilive the Kingfisher II at EQ also.

PS: Jay, Plan C is David out of Port Townsend. Great guy.

Chromer, I saw C-Dancer also. His vessel was traveling N. on I-5 between Mt. Vernon and Burlington. (I doubt that he saw me as I was not towing the C-Dory but towing our department's Fire/Rescue boat S. on I-5).

Hey Dwight (Chromer) and Kevin (Catch 22),

It was great seeing the both of you this weekend chasing some killer coho. I just got back, it was a very long day. It was nice getting to know you Kevin, you are a very talented craftsman. I can't wait to see the finished product. Thanks to you both for sharing your tips on how to catch a coho. I finally got the skunk off my boat but had to go up to Edmonds to get it. It was a very feisty 7 lb hen with eggs. It was your tip Kevin that worked this time. :teeth The both of you are so kind not to brag about your catches. You both did way better than me but at least I caught one.

For the rest of you, I just had to join in the fun trying to catch a great run of coho salmon. I must be crazy, or desperate. I drove 100 miles north Friday afternoon to pick up our boat from Twin Bridges then trailered down to Seattle (where I live) and stayed at Shilshole Bay Marina for two nights, pricey but very convenient. The fishing was right out front. Then I drove back up north to drop the boat off then came back down to Seattle. That was a lot of driving! Just to catch one fish. Oh well, I would have felt worse if I didn't catch anything. Just the one makes things a little nicer. :wink

I'll try post the pics of your boats in action later this week.

Thanks C-Bill for the reminder. Yes, that was us, C-Dancer!! We decided to go out to Saturna on a whim and wouldn't you know it, Sunset magazine took a picture of C-Dancer on the dock. It was really fun to browse through the magazine and see our boat. I've been meaning to scan the pic and add it to our album. I'll get er done this week.

PS I think I'll go back to coloring by posts in C-Dory green. Thanks for the inspiration Ruth and Joe.
