C-Dory Sightings

Beautiful :smilep and that lil and mighty 16 seems in place :beer

Saw a green C-D heading down the Seward Highway when we were coming back from snowmachinin on the Peninsula Friday :!: (yesterday) had a big-assed radar arch on it. Was that you... :wink I bet the Sound was like a dream...:love super duper sunny and calm all over that day :hot
out... :bat

Saw the Bess C at EQ Saturday with her very nice, brand new camper back canvas. Lyle and Shelley, she sure looks nice. I guess the radar arch is next.

I sar me a C-Dory this just a bit ago. I went with a chap and his interperter son for a test drive in the kids old truck. I drove it up to the freeway store and ran into StarcraftTom, chatted for a second or two then had to turn the wheel over to the non-buying varmit for the trip back home...I must live by a major C-D migratory route

White with Dark Blue 22(?) cruising

around in Emerald Bay, north Laguna Beach, just outside Deadman's Reef, as spotted from the steps coming down to the beach from Cliff Dr.

Out of Newport or Dana Point? The profile is so distinctive it's easy to spot a C-Dory anywhere.

I've lived in the same house for 20 years and most of those years there was only one route to town. On that route there is a fenced junk/storage yard behind an auto repair place (on Van Giesen, west of the Highway 240 bypass in Richland WA). Driving at sunset on Friday I noticed a very mini C-dory sitting there. No telling how long its been there and don't know why I have never noticed it. I want to say it is a 14' angler. Tiny cockpit. I've been in a 16' cruiser and this looks very much smaller. So far I haven't seen a name on it. I may try to get a picture thru the fence.

Looks like Mike and Marty's Mar-T twice snuggled into a Sea Magazine feature on Port Orchard, WA. Unmistakable burgundy trim, eyelet camper back and 75 H.P. Honda (tilted) points to only one Brat. Pretty cool, you two.

My Son,Jeremiah, was coming South on I-5 at Mount Vernon WA today and saw a truck with three C-Dorys on it headed North.looked like 2 blue and 1 green 22's.Possibly headed to British Columbia

Page 42, May issue of boating Life has a small article on the CD 25. Looks like the Viking Lady?

Seems like more and more boat photo's in these mags are just reprints from factory brochures. Check out the add on page 106:sad

Dogon Dory,

I just now discovered your earlier post (above) with the photo taken in the early 90's of a tall ship with a C-Dory nearby. That shot reminded me of the first time I saw a C-Dory -- at least the first time I really noticed one, errr, well, actually there was more than one.

This was also in the early 90's, 92 to be exact. I had taken a former girlfriend to Port Townsend and stopped by Port Ludlow on our way back. I thought we might rent a boat and I could show her some little secluded islands in the bay -- well, they were secluded back then.

There at the dock was a row of C-Dorys. I think there were 4 or 5 of varying sizes all lined-up. We both said how cute they looked, especially lined-up from largest to smallest like they were!

But, we walked right past them and headed for an open aluminum row boat with a small outboard that we rented. While waiting for someone to come down to the gas pump so we could get going, the weather seemed okay. But we didn't get much more than 100 yards away when the clouds dumped on us! Drenched, we immediately turned around and headed in.

We must have looked like drowned rats as we walked down the dock, laughing over how silly that turned out. Just then a man who had been over by the C-Dorys and had seen us walk by earlier yells out, "Hey, you should have rented one of these!" I knew what he meant!

Last summer I just couldn't stand it any longer -- I had to get a small boat to cruise around the waters that I look out over every day. So, I spent a long time searching the internet for a used boat. I searched and searched, but didn't find much that interested me. Then I recalled the sight of those C-Dorys all in a row! So I found the C-Dory sight and then this site and life has been 'just a little better' ever since.

Heck, life's gunna get a lot better in another 7 or 8 weeks!

Gotta love these boats!

they're an infectious damn boat. There's something about them, they aint fancy, or all glittery but something about them just gets in the blood stream.....7-8 weeks, life as you know it will never be the same :)

COrman: Good luck on the wait... The only bad part about one of my C-Dorys is that I sold her.... Have wished several times over I would have just kept her... But, I had never owned a boat that I used A BUNCH>>...and sold her for about $300 shy of what I paid for her. Thought that was a great deal then....only to now reflect and see the opportunities to just go hook up to that sharp little 16' Crusier and show up with her... Way easy to trailer, launch and retrieve...and had to pore fuel out of her practically... In fact, I stopped figering boat fuel into the trips....because rarely did I use more than one of the 6 gallon tanks...

Saturday evening, 6:00pm -- right at high tide -- saw a black 22' Cruiser heading East from the West entrance of Guemes Channel until just past the Guemes ferry. She looked to be brand new from what I could see from shore -- I don't think she had a name, any exterior accessories or even an antenna, but not real sure. In any event, she was moving along at a very nice clip! And boy did she look good!

If that was your boat, you gotta tell me what motor you're running. From shore, it looked to be a single, dark color and not too tall -- didn't need to be any closer to see how well it goes, but then again, maybe I do.

I'm sure that when my boat arrives, she'll look just as pretty!

everywhere i look I see-dorys.. sunday was a great day to go fishing. The water was flat and the wind was not blowing, well not in the morning. We ran over to everret in time to see a red dory launch and leave as we drove up. We launched and headed to useless bay to try for some buts. Saw one 16 fter on the way there and then ran in to "two lucky fish" when we got there. Well we got no halibut. I could not keep off the stary flunder. they were just attacking the bait. i did see a sub coming in to the sound. that was pretty cool.

Hi, Roger. It was! Good eye, Lisbeth. I remember a time ago you telling me to take the best road to your house, which I nearly did yesterday. Instead I continued to Seattle in an effort to beat Memorial Day and Mariner traffic.

No offense, big buddy, but I'm glad I did. Just read the front page article about the I-5 crash that killed three people and severely injured three others. That northbound accident happened Monday at 2:24 p.m. I drove southbound past that site 20 minutes earlier. A horrible four hour snarl soon ensued both directions. But what a terrible tragedy that the mom, 42, and dad, 41, were killed in the crash, and their seven year old son died on the way to Harborview. A family on their way home now no longer is alive.

Roger, lately I prefer the Conway exit for its slower, prettier tour through the valley to Cornet Bay or Anacortes. Too, it sports world famous Conway Tavern and their belt-busting cheeseburgers and fries, a must for hungry boaters. I like the joint's eclectic mix of leather clad Harley boys and girls, tulip chasers, lost yuppies, and locals and farmers amused by the aforementioned. By the way, I think I saw Haliegh's Comet southbound at 12:30 p.m. Friday north of Marysville.

We took a cruise from Vancouver up the Willamette into Downtown Portland and saw a blue 22 docked at the restaurant at the sea wall Saturday evening. We looked but couldn't see a name.
