Hi, Roger. It was! Good eye, Lisbeth. I remember a time ago you telling me to take the best road to your house, which I nearly did yesterday. Instead I continued to Seattle in an effort to beat Memorial Day and Mariner traffic.
No offense, big buddy, but I'm glad I did. Just read the front page article about the I-5 crash that killed three people and severely injured three others. That northbound accident happened Monday at 2:24 p.m. I drove southbound past that site 20 minutes earlier. A horrible four hour snarl soon ensued both directions. But what a terrible tragedy that the mom, 42, and dad, 41, were killed in the crash, and their seven year old son died on the way to Harborview. A family on their way home now no longer is alive.
Roger, lately I prefer the Conway exit for its slower, prettier tour through the valley to Cornet Bay or Anacortes. Too, it sports world famous Conway Tavern and their belt-busting cheeseburgers and fries, a must for hungry boaters. I like the joint's eclectic mix of leather clad Harley boys and girls, tulip chasers, lost yuppies, and locals and farmers amused by the aforementioned. By the way, I think I saw Haliegh's Comet southbound at 12:30 p.m. Friday north of Marysville.
