C-Dory Sightings

Hi Folks,

I met a friend at a meeting on Monday Night (July 31st ) in Cohasset Massachusetts. He said that he saw a 22' C-Dory being launched in Cohasset Harbor during the weekend. That makes two 22' C-Dory's on South of Boston. Any idea who it is? I would love to talk with him. (Maybe a canidate for the Erie Canal in September.)

ffheap, I launch my 16' C-Dory Cruiser in Cohasset Harbor two or three times a week. Could your friend have confused my 16' boat for a 22' boat? I've never seen another C-Dory in Cohasset Harbor.

We have been in the south Puget Sound since last thursday, having launched at Swantown Marina in Olympia. We were pulling Notayot out and found B~C in Blue~C waiting to launch. We had a nice discussion about C-Dory boats. We are now on lry land, and they are enjoing the water and wonderful weather (85 degrees and sunny) in the south Sound!

As the kids and I were coming back toward port after pretending to fish and crab, we spied a C-Dory headed the other way. The boat and graphics looked very familiar, and just as I was about to get my eyes focused on the name it dropped off of plane and made a u-turn that really impressed the kids. Primative, it was. Tom and Rene were on board, along with what looked to be fourteen other folks. We had a nice little chat before they continued on to drop their crab pots. I think we also passed them on the road as they were heading back toward Portland later this evening.

Last wed,Thurs, and Fri. the wife and I went and hid at Rife lake, what a great place to boat camp. Lots of coves and sites to see. We saw two C-dorys but at a range farther than we could read their names.

I have an 'indirect' C-Dory report. My next door neighbor just got back from a cruise to Alaska via Washington. He said he saw a C-Dory "just like mine" in the San Juans. I asked him if it was a 16, 19, 22, 25, mono or twin, any name, what color -- all no response. Hmmm, got to have details or not worth the sighting...maybe I'll try hypnosis on him :disgust

I saw a 22 foot C-Dory with a red kayak on top going northbound on the sound between Steilacoom and Fox Island this am. I see lots of Dorys on the south sound, but this is the first one with a kayak (or two) on top. Looked good. Robbi

Larry – sorry I missed you at Riff Lake last week. I had to make a Planning Commission meeting Thursday, then had to do research on zoning Friday. So Terri and I did not get out there until Sunday AM. I laid in the sun and fished all day. Only got two trout and a bad sunburn, but still enjoyed ourselves.

I think I know every nook and cranny on the lake. Being as it is close, it is easy to make a quick trip for fishing or just to get out on the boat. Fishing is allowed year round on the lake.

One of the boats you saw could have been Mary Ellen. Big Mac is the member on this site from Chehalis and he has been known to visit the lake.

Fred, you are right. I put the "pieces" together after I got home and checked out the site. Those kayaks looked nice on top of the boat. Robbi

We saw two CD-22s this morning in Fossil Bay on Sucia Island in the San Juans. Missed the name on the first one, but got to visit with the family aboard Luna-C for a few minutes... more great C-Brat folks!

Loving the new boat!

Best wishes,
Jim & Joan B.

Robbi, the pieces fit, thanks...we where headed to Bell Harbor after terrorizing Jarrel Cove. Those kayaks are a fun addition to the boaterhoming experience :) and at ~40# each, are easy to get on and off the boat

I saw a light blue Angler fishing south of the I90 floating bridge for sockeye on the way home yesterday. I was sure wishing I was fishing with them! I've seen this boat a couple times out on the lake now.

Couldn't make out the color or the name of a 22 Angler exiting the harbor (Cresent City, CA) on a beautiful Tuesday morning.

Heading South on I-15 between Idaho Falls and Pocatello ID. Looked to be
a blue 22. I was hauling horses north Sat. mid afternoon. I see so few
C-Dories out here would like to know.

Chris and I just returned from a fun cruise up to Nanaimo via Sucia, Newcastle Island, Pirate's Cove, and Sidney Spit. We saw "Wild Blue," a brand new CD25 in Fossil Bay and met some new Canadian friends with a 22 angler at Newcastle. They love their boat and have been enjoying it for something like 19 years! We also had a nice visit with "Soulmate" at Friday Harbor.
Rumor has it there was a whole pod of C-Dories at Roche Harbor yesterday, too!
We're looking forward to our next gathering!

I met a fellow by the name of Chip today (actually yesterday since it is now 0045 HRS). He and his family were at the Everett Launch site with their 16' C-Dory. He said that he had visited the C-Brat site before.

Saturday the 12th at Squalicum Harbor to pick up Lydia and her boyfriend we saw Wild Blue tied up at the Customs / visitor dock, hollered "hello" as we passed. Jim came over in his dinghy to where we tied up, then we tied up briefly behind them and had a short visit with Jim and Joan and Molly the Boat Cat - very nice!

We saw a BUNCH of C-Dorys this morning... of course, we are at the factory, so you'd kinda expect that. Lots of activity at 6:00 am. Alok, your new TomCat is gorgeous! We know the anticipation you are experiencing right now... as expected, she is one fine boat.

The factory folks are taking care of a few things Wild Blue needed. They have been a pleasure to work with, and we appreciate their concern for customer satisfaction.

We are staying in a nice hotel while the boat is being worked on. I appreciate the two TVs and unlimited shower-time, but the bed doesn't rock.

Best wishes,
Jim & Joan B.
