C-Dory Sightings

Am in the Willamette Valley for a few days. Saw a C22 (?) parked -- think it was named "Trail'r Sail'r". That name is not in the C-Brats database, so does anyone know this boat?

I saw that 22 over at Newport last year...they were pulling away from the launch area, so didn't make contact...nice boat :wink

While visiting my daughter in San Francisco yesterday I saw an unusual (I think) C-Dory in the marina near Fort Mason. It appeared to be about 25' with wooden grab rails on the cabin exterior top and had a solid section to the rear of the port side of the cabin. This section looked about 24" long and had a very large porthole (or at least a circular window). I assume there was something similar on the starboard side. So you had what looked like normal C-Dory windows and then this giant porthole. The boat looked like it had been in place for a while as the cabin top showed a lot of evidence of seagulls, etc. Normal C-Dory logo with the name "Hunky" slightly above and forward of the logo. It had a sloping cockpit cover from the cabin top back to the transom, a main and kicker but I couldn't see what brand of motor they were. Does this ring a bell with anybody??

Friday the 27th, while coming back from a convention in Vancouver, WA, we saw a Ranger 25 southbound on I-5 in the vicinity of DuPont...somebody taking a new one home?

Sarge- Not to worry. It is not you, it's the flat-bottomed C-Dory. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. We all have a tough time docking when the wind is blowing like it did yesterday. Put out your bumpers all around and try to have a grown up standing in the cockpit with a boat hook. Go slow be aware of the wind's direction. One of the great things about C-Brat gatherings is the number of hands that stand ready to help you dock. I hope the usual suspects will chime in with their suggestions. Besides, you did a great job docking in Everett.

Saw a C-D 22 with green trim and the full glass door off the east side of Steamboat Island WA this afternoon(Sunday April 29) at 1:00 PM. Twin engines (Suzuki or Merc) and Old Glory flying high. We were pouring a bit of concrete to repair an upper bulkhead without Notayot or we would have followed! Couldn't read the name since I saw the boat too late as they turned toward Olympia or Tacoma.

Dennis- That was us aboard C-Daisy. We were returning to Tacoma the long way from Jarell Cove. What a great weekend to be outdoors. Wish you would have had your boat so you could catch us. Maybe next time. karl

Dropped the Lori Ann off today at Master Marine for a couple of minor fixes before we leave for Lake Powell. There was a very spiffy new maroon Tom Cat, "Thumper" being picked up by a couple from Fairbanks. I believe they said their names were Ted and Beth (on C-Brats as Sea Duck). They are planning to keep the boat in either Valdez or Homer -- I was not too clear on that and they were busy getting ready to leave so I bugged out. Nice folks, terrific boat.

We were out at Jarrel Cove doing a landside look for our Commodore's Cruise in June , and saw the Pegasus in the Cove. It has been re-powered with a Yamaha by the new owners.

Friday, May 25th...over in the GA/SC area of I-16 when I was towing C-Byrd back from Hilton Head Island, SC to Clarksville, TN.... I saw a blue either 19 or 22 angler heading east, while I was heading west in the morning hours. I was running about 70, as they were, and tractor trailers flashing between us so I was not able to get a close enough look for a name on the boat. Felt good to see other C-Dory boats in the area. We still do not get much of that down/over here. Great time in Hilton Head and when everyone else was staying in the slips with the constant 20 knot winds...my friend and I trolled C-Byrd comfortabley out of the marina...at her blistering 6-8 knot speeds, salt water busting over the front and blowing past the hardtop and walls.... and we were loving life on the water, not on the piers watching the water. Man, I aint sure,,,but I think I heard C-Byrd holler.... I'm home!!!!!!

We saw a "Hunky Dory" getting U/W from Haines, AK harbor this morning. It looked like a 22' Cruiser with blue trim and twin motors. Hondas, perhaps?
