OK - here's the deal. Y'all have just a few hours to try and talk me out of it. I got my daughter's Suburban over here, and took it for a ride. It has lots of miles and is pretty loose in the front end even without the trailer. She had a 4" lift put in it, and I wouldn't tow the 22' boat with it. So, then I hooked the 25 up to the Jeep and headed for the scales. The scales pad is short, so the best I could do was weigh the trailer axles and then the Jeep. The trailer was 7050 and the Jeep was 4700. It tows good, and stops square and easy. I took it up to 60 for a ways with no sway or wander. So, what do you think? Any chance of us making it to Cornet Bay with the Jeep? It has a 6500# tow rating and a V-8. She'll be a little slow on the hills, but there aren't many of them. It's a one-way trip this time for the boat, and I might be just fool enough to try it. Twenty years ago, I wouldn't have thought twice about it.
Tim followed me to the scales with his City of Cannon Beach pickup, then got out with his clipboard like he was going to write me up. Made me think for a second.
