Would Cable Clam Pin 1002 be the right one to buy...want to have it big enough so the screw holes will still clear the existing hole...

A small pedistal would of maybe been the way to go! Tug
 
That clam has a hole that is 1.396". How many cables that have a dia. of .4724" do you have, and how big is the connector on each? Once you get two cables that size through the hole, is there room for the third connector to go through? You may need more clams... :roll:

And yes, a pedestal would have been the way to go, but I won't say "I told you so".... :smilep

Charlie ..i may yet add a pedestal, maybe over the winter. I have the radar and display installed.I just turned on the unit and the display confirmed all was good...that's it.I will take it out tomorrow of do the required adjustments.The wiring was a piece of cake, i used the existing Si-Tex power cable run to the battery, just had to connect the Furuno display power cable to it. I didn't hang the display from the electronic's shelf for a number of reasons..my shelf isn't that strong..i also like to stand alot especially when trolling and i would have that radar unit in my face. I haven't tested ( required ) the Magnetron Heater Voltage with a multitmeter to confirm it reads 8.0 V yet....shouldn't they of done that? I will post some pictures in my album. Tug
 
This morning i tried to find that that.. Point TP804 on the MD Board to confirm that Magnetron Heater Voltage read 8.0 V using a multimeter....first of all you need the eyes of a 10 year old to see the printing on the circuits and the board i have isn't the same circuit board shown in the manual....the radar works so i will just leave it at that. Tug
 
clam with PN 1002 will work but a pedestal will be better and look cool

Sea scan makes some nice ones. Look at the pix in my album under Captain's Cat Projects.
 
Here is what the radar tower on SleepyC looks like. I believe it is a SeaScan too but can't say for sure, and can't check for a few days. I am going to have to remove my tower and have it powder coated. The coating has flaked off on the top side of the base. It is aluminum under neath. Not looking forward to that process but this thread has given me some incouragement. Thanks. You are doing great.

OK, I'll change my idea. I think mine is a Scanstrut Power Tower after looking at the two pix side by side.

Harvey..Looks great...how high. ( in inches ). is your ScanStrut Power Tower and does it have any forward degree's in tilt. I found one that i like but it asks for how many forward degree's in tilt that i want. Thanks Tug
 
If you spend most of your cruising time at displacement speeds, you don't need any. The only reason you'd have any is to level the dome in a bow up attitude.

Thanks, and yes I believe it does have some tilt, but how much I would be guessing, maybe 4-5. What ever is there is in the tower as there is no wedge pad mounted above or below the tower. I believe it is about 5-6 " high. I am not where I can check the boat for a few days yet. It is adequate. As to height, it is not going to make much difference unless you get it WAY UP HIGH, (like on a sail boat mast), and then you loose the close in visibility. Currently, at the closest range I can see mooring buoys at about 40-50 feet out before they drop off the screen. As for long range, I have no problem seeing returns from boats at 6-8 miles and ships out to 10 or 12. Depending on where I am and conditions, my normal range is between 2-3 and 5-6 miles.

Does anyone know if Sea Scan radar mounts have a port. ( hole ) . in the aft side of the stem to pass your radar cable through....all the pictures of the Sea Scan mounts do not show the aft view ...thanks Tug

I have a 10 inch tower that I will take some pics of tomorrow and see if it will work for you. I had bought it to put on the 25 but sold her before I could mount it. I would make you a good deal if it will work for you.

You can do that with most any mount. I was warned away from one of the SeaScan mounts with a light bar by another Brat (can't remember who) since on his the light bar was fragile and broke off. I mounted a hailer under mine simply by adding on a piece of starboard that was bolted under the mount and held in place by the bolts used to mount the radar. I just had to cut the board and make the bolts a 1/2" longer. The same method would work with most any other mount.

Sensei ..sounds like good deal, i wish i could use it....i went out and did some measurements of the height in my tent enclosure. The tallest pedestal i could use is 5 inches to clear the top of the tent.. today i ordered a .( 5 inch ). forward leaning mount from Sea-Scan with a 2 degree forward tilt. Should look great, i didn't like all that sealant around the dome and radar cable...I have been running my radar every time i go out..i still have to fine tune my unit to get better reception..but i am happy with the purchase.
